From his perch on the windowsill, Leo watched the world go by. The gentle click of the keys on his laptop was the only sound breaking the silence of his apartment. The rhythm of the typing was familiar, his thoughts flowing effortlessly onto the screen. It was good, it was easy.

He felt the familiar thrum of the city below. The rumble of the subway, the distant sirens – all interwoven into the fabric of his day. His phone lay face down on the table, a silent observer of his solitude.

The notification popped up, the words "Important Building Announcement" catching his eye. Leo sighed, but instead of opening the email, he closed his laptop and decided to make a fresh cup of coffee. He really didn't need to read it right now.
